Sonny received her Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Health Services in December of 2008 and her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University in December of 2009. She started her career after graduation in 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center in Allen Park. She worked for Heartland for 10 years as an Occupational Therapist in multiple different locations around Michigan. In 2020, she transitioned her role into working as an Account Liaison for Heartland Hospice in Portage. In 2022, Sonny took a leap into a new role as a Therapy Consultant within medical sales working with Spinal Cord Stimulators for Nevro. “The therapy utilizes an implantable device to deliver electrical pulses directly to the spinal cord, blocking pain signals from reaching the brain. This can provide a safe and effective way to manage pain without relying on drugs or surgical procedures.”Sonny now works along side multiple doctors in southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana helping chronic pain patients.
Sonny has served on the Michigan Occupational Therapy Association for over 10 years on the membership committee; currently holding the dual role of Co-Director for Membership with Cathleen Johnson.
